Alcoholism

Up to a million children in the UK are growing up in families where one or both parents misuse alcohol.

Ever since she can remember Sonya has spent every waking hour caring for her alcoholic mum. For six years, Sonia has been taking on responsibilities no child should have to.

Parental alcohol misuse - the issue

AlcoholProblem-drinking by parents damages all aspects of family life. Relationships suffer within the family, and daily routines such as getting to school and preparing meals become disrupted, and there is often too little money to get by. Children have less chance to play with friends, and in some cases, parental alcohol misuse can lead to violence, abuse and neglect.

Give children damaged by their parents’ alcohol misuse a new life today.
