Barnardo’s projects working with children suffering neglect as a result of parental substance misuse

87% of our projects work with children and families who live under the shadow of parental substance misuse. There are many more children who need our help. The aim of these projects is to ensure that parents have the right parenting skills to combat neglect and be able to offer their children the support they need. We ensure that parents are referred to adult agencies to help them overcome their drug misuse so that we are able to work with the children. This helps to ensure the parents will able to provide their children with a better start in life.
